"I"M BACK!"

  • Jul. 9th, 2009 at 9:32 AM

                                 Did you miss me?

I broke my computer last week. I grabbed my laptop when it was open by the corner and pretty much destroyed the screen.

Stupid.

It was time for a new computer anyway, my old one was almost 7 years old.

Ancient in 'computerese'.

So I went to BestBuy and plunked down more than I wanted to, but bought a beautiful new laptop with just about ALL the 'bells and whistles'.

My new HP has 6g RAM, 500g hard drive, Vista Premium with a FREE upgrade to Windows 7 when it comes out in Sept., webcam, micro., 1g video card(!!), HD, can play BluRay movies, pretty much everything I think EXCEPT for a TV tuner.
That I guess could be disappointing, but I wouldn't watch TV on my comp. anyway.

Now the hard part. Yesterday I spent the WHOLE day installing programs, files, pictures, websites, etc., on my new computer trying to make everything seamless. One big problem I encountered was the new operating system. Some XP programs just don't work on a Vista machine. For example, I bought a new computer but I'm keeping my old printer for now. My Epson printer is excellent and works just fine so when I went to install the drivers for the printer I realized that they probably won't work so I had to go online to the Epson website and find out the fix.
The fix was so easy it was almost funny. Just plug the printer into the computer and let Windows Update do the work.

Voila!

One problem I am having now is trying to save my ITunes library. I have some ideas but we'll see. I don't want to lose what I have so I'm being cautious.

Frickin Apple is so propriatory they make everything harder than it has to be. I love their products but their GREED "runneth over"!

Anyway, I'm back.

My goal when I started this blog was to write something, anything, EVERYDAY. Up until my computer went down I achieved that; I wrote something everyday, some full of fluff, some I thought, very good.

My new goal now is the same.

To "keep on keeping on"!
